It has been over a year since Microsoft released their latest backwards compatibility update, a far cry from their quarterly cycle. We have known since shortly after the Xbox 360 launched that Microsoft was bound to cut the strings on their backwards compatibility efforts far before reaching the 100% compatible mark. The question of when has always been a mystery. Although Microsoft has never said officially that they have shut down their efforts, I am willing to say that this project was disbanded in November of 2007, the month that the latest update was released.
