Dec. 2006 backwards compatibility update Fri Dec 15, 2006 Just after I started seriously questioning whether we would ever get another backwards compatibility update, Microsoft releases one. They have given a rough schedule of one every quarter of the year and this update was due a long time ago. Any speculation as to whether or not any new games would ever be added to the list was well warranted. With the addition of these games to the backwards compatible library, the number of Xbox games playable on the Xbox 360 now stands at over 300. I am surprised to see some Japanese games on the list but given that Blue Dragon is moving quite a few 360s over there and that this update came out practically at the same time as Blue Dragon, this indicates that this move was planned well ahead of time. The Xbox 360 needs more Japanese games on the system and it is a good bet that the majority of owners never had an Xbox nor played many Xbox games. By adding these virtually unplayed games to the BC list, Microsoft is hoping that these individuals will want to play these older games and not put the system down once they finish playing Blue Dragon. This of course would be their normal projected path so this investment may pay off if it garners continued support for the system beyond Blue Dragon. This time they have added a few games and updated emulation for a few others. One of the reasons I ask for your 'experience date' is because if the emulator is ever updated, I can denote the reviews already submitted with the disclaimer that the emulator has since been updated and that the game currently played on a 360 may differ from the ones described before the update took place. If I have any of these situations, I will denote them in the near future. Here is the list. I will add the games to the site shortly.
